We geoparse books using the geocode.xyz API, displaying the results on a map where you can compare and search for books with a certain geographic focus. Every story has a place and every place a story - they give each other context. Literary Geography is varied and diverse, it includes current and historical place names; or imaginary locations. Our goal is to research real world geography and the stories it relates to.
Every place has a story and some of these stories have been written. Our robot will read them all, extract locations, disambiguate them based on context and draw them on a map.
The data provided on this site is for informational aims.
Although all efforts are made to accurately annotate text with geographical locations, we can make no guarantees as to the accuracy or completeness of this process.
